Geographically located at the southern tip of the Bahamas chain, the Turks & Caicos islands with their spectacular white sand beaches, turquoise sea and
friendly people, offer a luxuriously tranquil base for a get-away from it all holiday. The climate is perfect, with temperatures in the 80s all year round and cooling trade winds, and the diving offered is some of the best and most accessible in the world. There is also charter sailing, deep sea fishing and small boat rentals available.
Formerly annexed to Jamaica, the Turks & Caicos opted to remain British when Jamaica became independent in 1962. Proximity to the US and the arrival of satellite television in the 1980s saw an American influence creeping into the islands. Today, the US dollar is the official currency and offshore finance and tourism are the lifeblood of the country’s economy. Grand Turk is the seat of government, but is a quiet, unhurried place with a few small bars and several pleasant colonial buildings.
Turks & Caicos enjoy a wealth of luxury hotels, many on the main island of Providenciales (also known as Provo), spread along the pristine twelve mile beach of Grace Bay on the north shore. Grace Bay derived its name from a lady, Grace Hutchings, who visited the area on her honeymoon in 1892. Grace was a gracious, elegant young woman who charmed the local residents. Soon after she and her new husband departed, the locals named the twelve-mile beach along the north shore in her honour. Other properties hide away on small cays or their own private islands. Regardless of the hotel you choose from our selection, you can be assured of your own piece of seclusion, quiet time and barefoot luxury.
Here you will find world-class spas, endless watersports, unspoilt hotel beaches, well-equipped accommodation and excellent cuisine.
